National Assembly President: Sunhak Peace Prize is Most Appropriate for PM

PHNOM PENH: The President of the National Assembly of Cambodia, Heng Samrin, expressed his happiness that Prime Minister Hun Sen was chosen as the winner of the 2022 Sunhak Peace Prize, which he says is a source of pride for Cambodia as a whole and is a most worthy award for the Prime Minister.

In a letter addressed to the Prime Minister, the President of National Assembly, Heng Samrin, stated that the awarding of the Sunhak Peace Prize to Prime Minister Hun Sen is a testament to his contributions to the peace, humanity and development of Cambodia.

He wrote, "It is a great and noble honor for the people of Cambodia, a source of great pride to the Kingdom, and it is [an award that is] most worthy of Prime Minister Hun Sen. The founder of peace, of talented leadership, national unification, national reconciliation through win-win politics, which brought true peace, stability and prosperity to the people of Cambodia, as well as the current level of development and progress in all areas, [this award] is a testament to, and recognition of, Prime Minister Hun Sen’s contributions in building peace and developing humanity, which is famous in the world.”

Prime Minister Hun will be presented with the 2022 Sunhak Peace Prize on 12 February, 2022, at an award ceremony in Seoul, South Korea. The President of the Sunhak Peace Foundation has said that Prime Minister Hun Sen was selected for his strong leadership and contribution to stability, economic development and peace in both Cambodia and the wider South East Asian region.
